For over 22 years, Laura Hamilton has been a familiar face on British television, best known for hosting Channel 4’s A Place in the Sun. A passionate property expert, she has successfully developed and renovated over 21 properties, combining her love for travel, design, and sustainability.
Laura’s TV career began at 18, working behind the scenes on Top of the Pops, Big Brother, and Harry Potter. Encouraged by Dermot O’Leary and Vernon Kay, she soon transitioned into presenting, starting with CITV’s The Fun Song Factory, Nickelodeon’s Slime Across the UK, and Cartoon Network's Staraoke
Adventure-based entertainment followed when in 2011 Laura finished as runner up on Dancing on Ice. Laura then went on to host five series of the action based challenge show Fort Boyard for ITV. That same year, property and travel took centre stage with Channel 4’s A Place in the Sun, where Laura remains one of the show’s most recognisable faces. Just weeks after giving birth in 2014, The Jump became the next challenge.
Alongside this, home renovation and property expertise led to presenting roles on Beat My Build (Channel 4) and Cowboy Builders and Bodge Jobs (Channel 5), further cementing a reputation in lifestyle and property television.
Laura’s property journey began at 19 with her first renovation. Since then, she has developed over 21 properties, blending design, investment, and sustainability. She is sharing everything she has learnt, and lots about her personal property projects on her YouTube Channel 'Property with Laura Hamilton'.
In 2017, she transformed Lord Roberts on The Green (the local village shop) into a thriving café and deli, also serving as postmistress and landlady, creating a valued community space. In 2022, she completed The Rebuild, a historic property restoration featuring solar panels and an air source heat pump, showcasing her commitment to sustainable development.
Laura's latest development projects are in Mallorca, Dubai and Surrey. She loves everything about a build project from start to finish and has a keen eye for design. In 2026 Laura launched her own Signature Art Collection. The first two in the series are 'The Woodland Collection' and 'The Mediterranean Collection'. These are currently available to purchase from her online shop but are soon to be available in stores around the UK.
2026 saw Laura launch her YouTube Channel 'Property with Laura Hamilton'. The channel includes property advice, tips, hacks and 'how to' videos, as well an exclusive insight into Laura's personal property projects. New episodes stream every Friday at 5pm.
With over 16 years experience in the overseas property market, 2025 saw Laura launch a new online educational course on 'How to Buy, Renovate & Beyond' with guides on Spain and Dubai currently available and Florida coming soon.
In July 2024, Laura launched The Mile Fly Club, a fun entertaining, informative podcast where she connects with guests to discuss travel & lifestyle experiences. Series 1 and 2 is streaming on Spotify.
