10 Days, 4 Destinations & Countless Family Adventures
If there’s one thing I love with the children, it’s an adventure.
Travelling with my children has been part of our lives since they were just three weeks old, and now at 11 and 12, they genuinely love exploring the world as much as I do. Every trip is an opportunity to discover somewhere new, immerse ourselves in different cultures and create memories together. This latest adventure took us across America before ending in the crystal-clear waters of The Bahamas, and it was one we’ll never forget.
Nashville – Music City Magic
Our first stop was the vibrant city of Nashville, and it completely lived up to the hype.
The energy here is infectious. Live music spills out onto every street corner, there’s an unmistakable buzz wherever you go, and you can’t help but fall in love with the city’s laid-back Southern charm.
One of my favourite spots was Soho House Nashville. Whether you’re stopping by for lunch or a relaxed afternoon drink, it’s a beautiful place to escape the crowds for a while. Stylish interiors, fantastic food and that signature Soho House atmosphere make it well worth a visit.
We based ourselves at Holston House Nashville, which I couldn’t recommend more. It’s a gorgeous boutique hotel right in the heart of downtown, just a short walk from Broadway, making it the perfect base for exploring Music City. The rooftop pool was ideal for cooling off after a day of sightseeing, and the central location meant we could experience everything Nashville has to offer without constantly jumping in a car.
From wandering Broadway and listening to incredible live music to browsing the local shops (and of course picking up a few cowboy-inspired souvenirs!), Nashville was the perfect start to our trip.

Chattanooga – A True Taste of Tennessee
Next, we headed to Chattanooga for something completely different, our first authentic American rodeo.
It was everything we’d imagined and more. Children racing on sheep, bull riding, cowboys, horses and an amazing community atmosphere made for such a fun family afternoon. Watching the children’s faces as they experienced something so uniquely American was priceless, and it’s these kinds of experiences that make travelling so rewarding. We were lucky enough to get a tour behind the scenes before the rodeo began.

Miami – Sunshine & South Beach
After Tennessee, we swapped cowboy boots for flip-flops and headed to Miami.
Miami always has such a fantastic energy, blending beautiful beaches with colourful architecture, great restaurants and that unmistakable Florida sunshine.
We stayed at the Lennox Miami Beach, and it was a brilliant choice. This boutique hotel offers a peaceful retreat just moments from the beach, with a gorgeous courtyard pool and spacious rooms that worked perfectly for our family. It has a relaxed, luxurious feel without being overwhelming, making it ideal if you’re looking for somewhere stylish but family-friendly.
Whether we were walking along South Beach, enjoying fresh seafood or simply soaking up the sunshine, Miami was the perfect stop before heading to paradise.

The Bahamas – Paradise for Families
The final stop on our adventure was Atlantis Paradise Island, and if you’re travelling with children, it’s easy to see why this resort is so iconic.
We stayed at Coral at Atlantis, which I’d absolutely recommend for families. Everything is designed with children in mind, from the incredible pools and beaches to the world-famous Aquaventure waterpark and fascinating marine habitats. There really is something for every age, and the children loved having so much freedom to explore.
One of the best things about Atlantis is that you can be as active or as relaxed as you like. One minute you’re floating along the lazy river, the next you’re watching sharks glide past in the aquariums before heading to the beach for sunset.
Of course, no trip to The Bahamas would be complete without a couple of unforgettable excursions.

Swimming with the Famous Pigs 🐷
This had been on our family bucket list for years, and it absolutely lived up to expectations.
Watching the pigs swim through the crystal-clear turquoise water towards our boat was surreal, hilarious and something we’ll all remember forever. It was one of those experiences that had everyone smiling from start to finish.

Iguana Beach 🦎
Another incredible excursion was visiting Iguana Beach, where Bahamian rock iguanas roam freely along the white sand.
Seeing these amazing creatures up close in such a beautiful setting felt like stepping into another world, and it made for another unforgettable family adventure.
Why We Love Travelling Together
Travelling isn’t something we’ve fitted around family life—it’s been part of our family life from the very beginning.
Our children have been travelling since they were just three weeks old, and now at 11 and 12, it’s simply what we do. They’ve grown up exploring different countries, experiencing new cultures and embracing adventures big and small.
One of the greatest joys now is seeing destinations through their eyes as they’ve grown older. They’re curious, adventurous and genuinely excited to discover somewhere new, whether that’s listening to country music in Nashville, cheering at a rodeo, exploring Miami or swimming alongside pigs in the Bahamas.
Travel has given them confidence, curiosity and experiences that simply can’t be taught in a classroom. Every journey teaches them something new, and every destination becomes another shared family memory.
Where We Stayed
If you’re planning a similar trip, these are three places I’d happily recommend:
- Holston House Nashville – A stylish boutique hotel with an excellent downtown location and rooftop pool, perfect for exploring Broadway and Music City.
- Lennox Miami Beach – A chic, boutique hotel just a short stroll from South Beach, offering a relaxed atmosphere that’s ideal for families.
- Coral at Atlantis, Paradise Island – The perfect base for families wanting easy access to Atlantis’ waterpark, marine attractions, beaches and endless entertainment.
Final Thoughts
This trip had everything we love about travelling—vibrant cities, authentic local experiences, beautiful beaches and unforgettable adventures.
From soaking up the music scene in Nashville and experiencing a real Tennessee rodeo, to enjoying Miami’s coastal charm and swimming with pigs in the crystal-clear waters of The Bahamas, every stop offered something completely different.
After years of travelling together as a family, one thing remains the same: the best souvenirs are never the things we buy, but the memories we make. And this 10-day adventure has given us plenty that we’ll be talking about for years to come.
